What files can I upload?
STL (binary or ASCII) or OBJ (triangles and quads), up to 300 MB; files over 16 MB take a few minutes to check.
My file is bigger than 300 MB. What now?
Re-export it at a coarser tolerance (0.025 mm is plenty for this printer), or email support@metisdesignstudio.com a download link to the file for a manual quote.
What units do you use?
Files are read in millimetres. If your file was drawn in inches, type 2540% in the Scale box on the quote page. The mm and in buttons there change only how sizes are shown.
How big or small can a part be?
PA11 up to 150 × 150 × 295 mm and TPU 90A up to 150 × 150 × 290 mm, in any orientation. The longest side must be at least 2 mm.
How thin can walls and holes be?
PA11: walls at least 0.6 mm; holes at least 1 mm. TPU 90A: walls at least 1.0 mm (vertical and horizontal); holes at least 1.0 mm; at least two escape holes 4 mm or wider per enclosed cavity.
How accurate are the parts?
It depends on the part’s size, shape and material. If your part needs tight tolerances, email support@metisdesignstudio.com for a manual quote.
What colours are the parts?
PA11 parts are dark grey and TPU 90A parts are grey: the material’s own colour, with no other colour options. Every part is blast-cleaned and polished.
How long does it take?
PA11: typically 4 business days; +1 day for 20 pieces or more. TPU 90A: typically 4 business days; +1 day for 20 pieces or more. Business days are Monday to Friday, counted from the successful payment; shipping time is on top.
Do you give quantity discounts?
There are no discount tiers. Each part’s setup is shared by its copies, so more copies of the same part cost less each.
How long is a quote valid?
24 hours. Changing the quantity gives you a new quote.
Where do you ship?
To addresses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, by USPS Ground Advantage (UPS Ground for larger boxes). The shipping cost is shown at checkout.
Can I cancel an order?
Email support@metisdesignstudio.com as soon as you can, with your order number. Our terms and refund pages are coming soon.
What if a part is wrong or damaged?
Email support@metisdesignstudio.com with your order number and a photo of the part, and we’ll sort it out with you.
What won’t you print?
- Export-controlled (ITAR or EAR) files
- Anything that carries patient information, including in file names
Our parts aren’t medical devices.
Is my file private?
Yes. It is never shown to anyone else. A file you don’t order is deleted after about 7 days and never kept more than 30; an order keeps its own copy. Email support@metisdesignstudio.com to have a file deleted sooner.
